Advocacy

Kentucky’s Credit Unions (KCU) proudly serves all Credit Unions across the Commonwealth and their member-owners as the sole association in Kentucky dedicated to advocating for Credit Unions' ability to deliver exceptional value and impact in their local communities.

Our Advocacy team works tirelessly at the local level, in Frankfort, and in Washington, D.C., to eliminate barriers and influence public policy in ways that benefit Credit Unions and their members.

In addition to our skilled team, KCU collaborates closely with partners at all levels. Among these, our national trade association, America’s Credit Unions (ACU), stands out as one of our most trusted and frequent collaborators. Together, we are part of an integrated and forward-thinking advocacy system committed to enhancing awareness, building strong relationships, shaping impactful policies, promoting service excellence, and breaking down barriers.

Get Involved

With the combined efforts of Kentucky’s Credit Unions (KCU) and America’s Credit Unions (ACU), Member Credit Unions in Kentucky benefit from dedicated advocacy professionals working tirelessly in Frankfort and Washington, D.C., playing both offense and defense every day.

While we take pride in our experienced and professional advocacy team, the most powerful voice to an elected official is YOURS. Policymakers, elected officials, and regulators—regardless of political affiliation—pay the closest attention to their constituents and local experts. That’s why your active involvement is crucial to the success of Credit Union advocacy.

You are the best storyteller for your Credit Union. Your unique perspective can make a lasting impression on lawmakers. By building relationships and engaging directly with your representatives in Frankfort and Washington, you can help ensure that the voice of Credit Unions is heard loud and clear.

Buy LoKYl

Buy LoKYl empowers credit union members to support local businesses while earning cash rewards simply by using their credit union debit card for everyday purchases. No forms to fill out, no extra steps—just effortless rewards for shopping locally.

At its heart, this program is about strengthening local economies by keeping hard-earned dollars circulating within our communities. Credit unions are uniquely equipped for this mission, as they are built to serve the needs and interests of their members.

Through the Buy LoKYl program, credit unions and their members can "let their money talk," demonstrating a commitment to reinvesting in the places they live, work, and play. This engagement fosters deeper community connections and strengthens the credit union movement, enabling members to become effective, impactful advocates for credit unions throughout Kentucky.
